Which Ubisoft studio developed Assassin's Creed III: Liberation?

The story behind the answer

Ubisoft Sofia developed Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. The Bulgarian studio created the game for PlayStation Vita, where it launched in 2012 alongside the broader Assassin's Creed III period.

Ubisoft Sofia was founded in 2006 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Its work on Liberation made the studio an important contributor to the franchise because the title delivered a distinct campaign, protagonist, and setting rather than simply reproducing the main console game.

Ubisoft Montreal led development of the original Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed III, while Ubisoft Quebec later led projects including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Ubisoft Annecy has also contributed to Ubisoft titles, but it was not the lead developer of Liberation. Later ports and remastered editions involved additional studios.
