Which two musicians won the 2026 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations for Schmigadoon!?

Doug Besterman and Mike Morris won the 2026 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations for Schmigadoon!.

Orchestrations determine how a musical’s songs are arranged for the instrumental ensemble. The orchestrator translates a score into the colors, textures, and instrumental combinations heard by the audience in performance.

Besterman and Morris were recognized for Schmigadoon!, the Broadway musical adaptation of the Apple TV+ comedy series. The production won Best Musical as well as Best Book and Best Original Score, with Cinco Paul receiving the writing and music-and-lyrics honors.

Orchestrations are different from original score. The score category recognizes the music and lyrics themselves, while orchestration recognizes the musical realization of that material for the stage orchestra.
