Which town did Joan of Arc capture during the Battle of Jargeau?

The story behind the answer

Joan of Arc’s forces captured the town of Jargeau during the Battle of Jargeau.

The battle took place on 11 and 12 June 1429, shortly after the French victory at Orléans. Jargeau was held by an English garrison and was strategically important because it controlled routes along the Loire. French troops attacked the town and overcame its defenses.

Joan was active in directing the assault and was nearly struck by a stone during the fighting. The victory at Jargeau formed part of the French Loire campaign, which also included the battles at Meung-sur-Loire and Beaugency. These successes helped clear the route toward Reims for Charles VII’s coronation.
