Which Tolkien work contains the creation story of Arda in the section called the Ainulindalë?
Answer
The Silmarillion
Answer
The Silmarillion
The Silmarillion contains the creation story of Arda in its opening section, the Ainulindalë.
The Ainulindalë, or “Music of the Ainur,” describes how Eru Ilúvatar creates the Ainur and gives them a great musical theme. The rebellious Melkor introduces discord into the music, but the resulting vision becomes the history of the world called Eä. Arda is the name of the world in which Middle-earth exists.
The Silmarillion is not a single narrative novel in the same style as The Hobbit. It is a collection of interconnected mythological and historical writings covering the creation of the world, the Valar, the Elves, the First Age, Númenor, and the Rings of Power. It was edited and published after Tolkien’s death in 1977.
The book’s title comes from the Silmarils, three jewels made by the Elf Fëanor. Much of its central history concerns the wars caused by their theft from the Elves and their imprisonment in the crown of Morgoth.
