Which Tolkien story features the dragon Glaurung and the hero Túrin Turambar?

The story behind the answer

The Children of Húrin features the dragon Glaurung and the tragic hero Túrin Turambar. Christopher Tolkien edited and published the standalone book in 2007 from stories and drafts created by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The narrative is set in the First Age of Middle-earth, long before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Túrin is the son of Húrin, a human warrior whose family suffers under the curse and malice of Morgoth, the first Dark Lord.

Glaurung is a powerful dragon whose manipulation deepens Túrin’s tragedy. The story is one of Tolkien’s darkest major narratives, drawing on heroic and tragic traditions while expanding the history of the First Age.

The 2007 edition is not a newly written novel by Christopher Tolkien. It is an editorial reconstruction based on Tolkien’s existing versions, arranged to provide a continuous account of Túrin’s life and downfall.
