Which Tolkien language is associated with the Elves of Valinor?

The story behind the answer

Quenya is the Tolkien language associated with the Elves of Valinor.

Tolkien created Quenya as a highly developed Elvish language inspired in part by Finnish and other languages. In his mythology, it was spoken by the Eldar, including the Ñoldor and Vanyar, in Valinor. It is often described as a language of lore, ceremony, and poetry rather than the everyday speech of every Elf in Middle-earth.

Quenya’s history includes changes in status and usage. After the Ñoldor returned to Middle-earth, their language was restricted in some realms, while Sindarin became more widely used in daily life among many Elves. This is why the two languages are sometimes confused.

Names such as Eärendil, Galadriel, and Númenor draw on Tolkien’s invented linguistic systems. Quenya is not merely a vocabulary list: Tolkien developed its grammar, sound patterns, historical changes, and relationship to other Elvish tongues.
