Which Tolkien character is known by the nickname Strider?

In J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Aragorn is the character known by the nickname Strider.

When Frodo and his companions meet him at the Prancing Pony in Bree, Aragorn is presented as a mysterious Ranger called Strider. The name reflects how the people of Bree view the wandering Rangers of the North, who patrol the wild lands beyond the settled regions.

Aragorn's identity is far greater than the nickname initially suggests. He is the heir of Isildur and a descendant of the kings of Arnor and Gondor. During the story, he becomes a central member of the Fellowship, helps lead the fight against Sauron, and eventually takes his royal name, Elessar.
