Which Tolkien character is known as the father of dragons?

Glaurung is the Tolkien character known as the father of dragons. He is a major antagonist in the First Age story later associated with The Silmarillion and The Children of Húrin.

Glaurung is described as the first of the great dragons bred by Morgoth. Unlike Smaug, who is central to The Hobbit, Glaurung belongs to the much earlier history of Middle-earth. He can speak, manipulate others, and use his gaze to dominate or confuse his victims.
