Which Tirthankara is also called Adinatha?

The story behind the answer

Which Tirthankara is also called Adinatha? Rishabhanatha is also called Adinatha.

The name Adinatha means “first lord” or “original lord,” a fitting title for Rishabhanatha because Jain tradition identifies him as the first Tirthankara of the current time cycle. He is also known as Rishabhadeva, Rishabha and several other names, including Adishvara and Yugadeva.

Jain accounts portray Rishabhanatha as a culture hero who taught people essential skills and helped organize society. His son Bharata is traditionally linked with the name Bharatavarsha, a traditional name for India, while another son, Bahubali, is celebrated in his own Jain legends.

Rishabhanatha’s bull emblem is one of the easiest ways to recognize his images. His distinctive long locks of hair also appear in some artistic traditions. Adinatha is not another separate Tirthankara; it is a title and alternate name for the first one.
