Which three saints did Joan of Arc identify as guiding her visions?

The story behind the answer

Joan of Arc identified Saints Michael, Catherine, and Margaret as the figures guiding her visions. She said that these heavenly voices and visions instructed her to support the dauphin and help drive the English from France.

Joan later described Saint Michael the Archangel as an important early influence. She associated Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Saint Margaret of Antioch with continuing guidance during her youth and military campaign.

The accounts come mainly from Joan’s testimony at her 1431 condemnation trial and from the later nullification trial. Medieval testimony about visions must be read in its historical religious context, but the three names consistently appear in accounts of Joan’s experiences.

Joan did not claim to be a saint during her lifetime. Her visions became central both to the prosecution’s questions about her beliefs and to later Catholic assessments of her life.
