Which theatre received the 2026 Regional Theatre Tony Award?
Answer
American Players Theatre
American Players Theatre received the 2026 Regional Theatre Tony Award.
The Regional Theatre Tony Award honors a professional theatre company outside New York City that has made a notable contribution to American theatre. In 2026, the honor went to American Players Theatre, a company based in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
American Players Theatre is known for presenting classical and contemporary works in repertory. Its campus includes the outdoor Hill Theatre and the indoor Touchstone Theatre, giving the company distinct spaces for different productions.
This award is separate from the Special Tony Award given to the League of Resident Theatres and from the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre. It is also different from the Excellence in Theatre Education Award, which went to Freddie Hendricks of Utopian Academy for the Arts in 2026.
