The British version of Dragon's Den was originally broadcast on BBC Two.
The programme debuted on BBC Two in January 2005, placing entrepreneurs in front of investors who questioned their products, finances and plans for growth. The channel became associated with the show's early run and its business-focused factual-entertainment style.
Dragon's Den is not a programme created for BBC One or ITV. Its format was adapted for Britain from a Japanese television concept, and the BBC version later became one of the most recognisable business series on British television.
The programme's title and investment structure have also inspired versions in many countries. The American series Shark Tank is a related adaptation, but it is not the original British broadcaster or title.
