The British version of Dragon's Den has been broadcast on BBC Two since its launch.
BBC Two is one of the BBC's main television channels and has traditionally carried factual, documentary and specialist programming. Dragon's Den fits that tradition through its focus on entrepreneurship, finance and the practical challenges of building a company.
The programme presents entrepreneurs in a studio pitch, where they explain their product or service and ask for a stated amount of money for a stated percentage of the business. The Dragons can make offers, negotiate, or decline to invest. A pitch can therefore turn on valuation as much as on the underlying product.
BBC Two should not be confused with BBC One, the BBC's general flagship channel. The show has also been distributed internationally and has influenced other business-pitch programmes, but the British original is identified with BBC Two. Broadcast listings can change over a programme's long history, yet BBC Two remains the channel associated with its British launch and main run.
