Which telecommunications company was founded by Dragons' Den investor Peter Jones?

The story behind the answer

Dragons' Den investor Peter Jones founded Phones International Group.

Phones International Group was a telecommunications business established by Jones in 1998. It operated in the mobile-phone sector, a field that matched Jones's long-standing interest in technology, communications and consumer electronics.

The company is often confused with major mobile-network operators or high-street phone retailers. Phones International Group was Jones's own business, whereas Vodafone, Three and other named brands are separate network companies. Carphone Warehouse was also a different retailer.

Jones became one of the longest-serving investors on the British Dragons' Den panel. His investment interests have covered technology, retail, consumer products and leisure businesses, but Phones International Group remains one of the clearest examples of his entrepreneurial background before the programme.
