MiG Blaze won the first League of Legends Champions Korea tournament in Spring 2012. The event was then known as The Champions Spring 2012, and MiG Blaze defeated sibling team MiG Frost in the final.
South Korea’s League of Legends server had launched in December 2011, and cable broadcaster OnGameNet staged the country’s first major League tournament a few months later. The Spring competition ran from March to May 2012 and featured 16 teams, establishing the competitive lineage that later became the LCK.
The naming history causes common confusion. “League of Legends Champions Korea” is the modern name, but the inaugural event was branded The Champions Spring 2012 rather than LCK Spring. MiG Blaze and MiG Frost were also early organizational names; MiG Frost later became Azubu Frost, while MiG Blaze became Azubu Blaze and eventually part of the CJ Entus lineage.
MiG Frost won the following Summer 2012 tournament under the Azubu name. That later success does not change MiG Blaze’s status as the first Spring champion.
