Which team is based in Maranello, Italy?

The story behind the answer

Ferrari is the Formula 1 team based in Maranello, Italy.

Maranello is Ferrari’s historic headquarters and factory town in Emilia-Romagna, near Modena. Enzo Ferrari moved the company’s operations from Modena to Maranello during the Second World War, and the location became closely linked with the team’s identity, engineering and road-car production.

Ferrari’s racing organisation began as Scuderia Ferrari in 1929, before the Ferrari marque entered the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950. It is the only team to have competed in every Formula 1 World Championship season, making its Maranello base one of the sport’s most recognisable landmarks.

The name can cause a small terminology mix-up: Ferrari is both a road-car manufacturer and the constructor commonly listed as Scuderia Ferrari in F1. The other options are headquartered elsewhere: McLaren is associated with Woking, Red Bull Racing with Milton Keynes, and Mercedes with Brackley and Brixworth in the United Kingdom.
