The sword reforged for Aragorn in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is Andúril. Its name means “Flame of the West” in Tolkien’s fictional language Quenya.
Andúril is made from the shards of Narsil, the sword that cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand during the battle at the end of the Second Age. The broken blade remained an important symbol of the lost kingship of Gondor.
The sword is reforged in Rivendell before Aragorn joins the Fellowship. It represents his renewed claim as heir of Isildur and becomes one of the central symbols of his leadership.
Glamdring, Sting, and Orcrist are different swords from Tolkien’s legendarium. Glamdring belonged to Gandalf, Sting was carried by Bilbo and Frodo, and Orcrist was associated with Thorin Oakenshield.
