Which Swiss city is home to World Gymnastics headquarters?

World Gymnastics is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland. The organization is the global governing body for gymnastics and is also known by its formal name, the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique, or FIG.

Its roots reach back to 1881, when the federation was founded as the European Federation of Gymnastics. It later expanded beyond Europe and became the international body responsible for disciplines including artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, acrobatic, aerobic and parkour gymnastics. Lausanne is often called the Olympic Capital because it hosts the International Olympic Committee and many other sports organizations.

A common mix-up is confusing World Gymnastics with European Gymnastics, the continental federation for Europe. Both organizations are based in Lausanne, but they have different scopes. Geneva is another prominent Swiss international city, yet it is not the headquarters city for World Gymnastics.
