Omega Force’s Dragon Quest Builders 2 experience helped lead to its Pokémon Pokopia partnership.
Pokopia required expertise beyond the battle-focused design of most main Pokémon games. Its central activities include constructing buildings, shaping landscapes, crafting objects, and creating habitats. Game Freak therefore sought a partner familiar with sandbox systems and large-scale building mechanics.
Omega Force, a Koei Tecmo development studio, had relevant experience through its work on Dragon Quest Builders 2. That background helped make it a suitable co-developer alongside Game Freak. The partnership allowed Pokopia to combine Pokémon world-building with a proven approach to player-created environments.
The fact does not mean Omega Force developed Dragon Quest Builders 2 alone or that Pokopia is a Dragon Quest game. It identifies the specific experience that influenced the choice of partner. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company published Pokopia, while Game Freak and Omega Force handled co-development.
