Which studio was announced in 2019 to restart development on Metroid Prime 4?

The story behind the answer

Which studio was announced in 2019 to restart development on Metroid Prime 4? Retro Studios was announced as the replacement developer.

Nintendo revealed the change on January 25, 2019, after deciding that the project’s progress was not meeting its standards for a Metroid Prime sequel. Nintendo EPD general manager Shinya Takahashi announced that development would restart from the beginning, with producer Kensuke Tanabe working with Retro Studios.

The decision was notable because Retro had created the original Metroid Prime trilogy: Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. When Metroid Prime 4 was first announced in 2017, Nintendo had said Retro was not developing it; the initial project was associated with an outside team, later reported to involve Bandai Namco studios. The 2019 announcement therefore marked a major reset, not merely a change in publisher or producer.

The project was later titled Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Team Ninja was associated with Metroid: Other M, MercurySteam developed Samus Returns and Dread, and Nintendo Software Technology was not the studio named in the restart announcement.
