In Metroid Prime, Samus sees the cybernetically enhanced Meta Ridley escaping the frigate Orpheon.
At the beginning of the game, Samus answers a distress signal from the Space Pirate frigate Orpheon. During her investigation, the ship’s containment systems fail and dangerous creatures break loose. Ridley then appears outside the frigate, flying away toward Tallon IV after being rebuilt with extensive mechanical enhancements.
This version is called Meta Ridley. His cybernetic body replaces or reinforces parts of his organic form, giving him armored plating, mechanical wings, enhanced weapons, and a more imposing silhouette. He later becomes the final major boss before Samus enters the Impact Crater, making the opening sighting an early preview of the game’s climax.
The names in the other choices belong to different Ridley-related concepts or do not identify this incarnation. Omega Ridley is the Phazon-enhanced form encountered in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, while Proteus Ridley appears in Metroid: Samus Returns. Mecha Ridley is a separate mechanical duplicate from Metroid: Zero Mission.
