Which studio led development of the first Assassin’s Creed game released in 2007?

The story behind the answer

Ubisoft Montreal led development of the first Assassin’s Creed game released in 2007.

Ubisoft Montreal is the Canadian studio responsible for the original game’s core development. The project grew from an earlier Prince of Persia concept and introduced the Assassin–Templar conflict, the Animus framework, and a historical open-world structure.

The original Assassin’s Creed follows Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad during the Third Crusade and includes cities such as Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. Its design established several features that became series traditions, including social stealth, climbing, investigations, and assassination missions.

Other Ubisoft studios later led major entries. Ubisoft Quebec developed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, while Ubisoft Sofia worked on Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Ubisoft Montreal also led development on several later mainline games, including Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed Origins. The original title launched in November 2007 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a Windows version following in 2008.
