Which studio developed the original Assassin's Creed video game?

The story behind the answer

Ubisoft Montreal developed the original Assassin's Creed video game. The Canadian studio created the first entry, while Ubisoft published it in 2007 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The project grew from ideas connected to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Ubisoft Montreal shifted toward a game about secret societies, historical assassination, and free-roaming cities, eventually establishing the foundations of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Ubisoft Montreal has remained closely associated with the series and later developed Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Other Ubisoft studios also made major entries: Ubisoft Singapore contributed to several games, Ubisoft Quebec led Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Syndicate, and Ubisoft Sofia developed Assassin's Creed Liberation.
