Which studio developed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag?

The story behind the answer

Ubisoft Montreal developed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The Canadian studio led production of the pirate-themed adventure, which launched in 2013 as the sixth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, a Welsh privateer who becomes involved with the Assassins and Templars in the early eighteenth-century Caribbean. Its open-world design emphasizes naval exploration, ship combat, boarding actions, and island activities alongside the series’ stealth gameplay.

Ubisoft Montreal is the studio most closely associated with several major Assassin’s Creed projects, including the original game and Assassin’s Creed II. Other Ubisoft studios contributed to Black Flag, but Montreal is credited as the principal developer, not Ubisoft Quebec, which led Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
