Which studio developed Assassin’s Creed II?

The story behind the answer

Ubisoft Montreal developed Assassin’s Creed II.

Ubisoft Montreal led development of Assassin’s Creed II, the 2009 sequel that shifted the series from the Third Crusade to Renaissance Italy. The studio expanded the original game’s stealth and exploration systems while introducing Ezio Auditore, property renovation, more varied missions, and a larger range of activities.

The development team built a fictionalized version of several Italian locations, including Florence, Venice, Monteriggioni, Forlì, and the Vatican. The game’s historical setting and character-driven structure helped establish Ezio as one of the franchise’s best-known protagonists. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2009, followed by Windows in 2010.

Ubisoft Quebec is associated with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and later series work, while Ubisoft Sofia developed Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Ubisoft Singapore has contributed to several Ubisoft projects, but it was not the lead developer of Assassin’s Creed II. This distinction concerns the principal development studio, not every supporting team involved in production.
