Which studio announced a Little House film adaptation in October 2012?
Answer
Sony Pictures
Answer
Sony Pictures
Sony Pictures announced a Little House film adaptation in October 2012.
The proposed project was intended as a feature-film version of the Little House property, which had already become famous through Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books and the long-running television series. Sony was reported to be in negotiations with director David Gordon Green, with Abi Morgan attached to write the screenplay and Scott Rudin involved as a producer.
That film was never released. Sony later put the project into turnaround, and Paramount Pictures was reported in 2016 to have taken it up, with Sean Durkin attached to direct. The Paramount version also failed to reach production.
This history is separate from the Netflix television adaptation. The 2026 series traces back to a different development path that began with Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content in 2020, was transferred to CBS Studios in 2024, and was ordered by Netflix in 2025.
