CBS Studios absorbed Paramount TV Studios’ slate before the 2026 Little House on the Prairie series aired.
The project began in December 2020 as an hour-long drama being developed by Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content. It was connected to producers Trip Friendly, Joy Gorman Wettels, and Dana Fox, while remaining in development rather than on screen.
In 2024, Paramount TV Studios was shut down during corporate cutbacks, and its ongoing and development projects shifted to its sister company, CBS Studios. That transfer explains why CBS Studios is credited among the production companies on the eventual Netflix series.
The corporate history can be confusing because Paramount TV Studios later returned under the Paramount Skydance structure in 2025. That later relaunch does not change the earlier transfer described in the question. The series was officially ordered by Netflix in January 2025 and premiered on July 9, 2026, with CBS Studios producing it alongside Anonymous Content.
