Which streaming service premiered the 2026 Little House on the Prairie series? Netflix. Netflix commissioned and premiered the new television adaptation based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books.
The series is developed and showrun by Rebecca Sonnenshine and is produced by Trip Friendly, whose father, Ed Friendly, produced the earlier television adaptation. The new series is scheduled to premiere on July 9, 2026, and is described as a western, historical drama, and family drama.
It is the second television series based on Wilder’s books. The original Little House on the Prairie ran on NBC from 1974 to 1983 and starred Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls. The Netflix version returns to the source novels while presenting a new cast and creative interpretation.
Prime Video, Peacock, and Hulu are plausible distractors because they also release prominent original series, but Netflix is the network listed for this adaptation. The production filmed in Winnipeg, Canada, which is separate from its streaming home.
