Which Stranger Things season 4 episode was written by Caitlin Schneiderhan?

The Stranger Things season 4 episode written by Caitlin Schneiderhan is “The Monster and the Superhero.” It is the third episode of the season and the 28th episode overall.

Released on May 27, 2022, the episode follows several storylines at once. Eleven is arrested after attacking Angela, then Dr. Owens takes her into custody and explains that a secret program may restore her lost powers. In Hawkins, Jason Carver begins pursuing Eddie Munson, while Joyce and Murray work to rescue Hopper from a Soviet prison.

Shawn Levy directed the episode, and Schneiderhan received the writing credit. A common mix-up is “The Dive,” another season 4 episode released in the same first volume; it was written by Curtis Gwinn. “Papa,” which follows later in the season, was written by Kate Trefry, while “The Piggyback” was written by the Duffer Brothers.

The episode’s title refers to the contrast between the monstrous supernatural danger threatening Hawkins and Eleven’s recurring role as a protector. Its release helped establish the season’s split structure, with seven episodes in the first volume and two in the second.
