Which stock exchange is headquartered at 11 Wall Street in New York City?
Answer
New York Stock Exchange
Answer
New York Stock Exchange
The New York Stock Exchange is headquartered at 11 Wall Street in New York City.
The exchange’s landmark building occupies the intersection of Wall Street and Broad Street in Lower Manhattan. Its neoclassical facade, completed in 1903, includes a famous pediment sculpture representing commerce and prosperity.
The NYSE traces its institutional history to the Buttonwood Agreement of 1792 and became one of the world’s most important venues for listed-company shares. The building’s address is often used as shorthand for the exchange itself, although NYSE trading is now supported by electronic systems as well as floor-based activity.
A common mix-up is confusing the NYSE with Nasdaq, another major U.S. exchange. Nasdaq is also based in New York, but its headquarters are at One Liberty Plaza rather than 11 Wall Street.
