Which stationery retailer was built by Dragon's Den investor Theo Paphitis?

The story behind the answer

Dragon's Den investor Theo Paphitis built the stationery retailer Ryman.

Paphitis acquired Ryman, a British stationery and office-supplies retailer, in 1995. Under his ownership, the business expanded its retail presence and became the best-known company associated with his entrepreneurial career.

Ryman sells stationery, office products and related services through shops and online channels. Paphitis later became widely recognised through Dragon's Den, where he appeared as an investor in the programme’s early years.

Ryman is not the same business as WHSmith, Staples or Paperchase. All four names are associated with stationery or office supplies, which makes them easy to mix up, but Ryman is the company specifically linked to Paphitis’s ownership.
