Which song does Ariel sing while dreaming about life beyond the sea in Disney's The Little Mermaid?

Ariel sings “Part of Your World” while dreaming about life beyond the sea in Disney's The Little Mermaid.

The song appears early in the 1989 animated film, during a sequence in which Ariel explores her hidden collection of human objects. Its lyrics express her curiosity about the surface world and her feeling that something important is missing from her life under the sea.

Jodi Benson performed the song as Ariel. The music was written by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Howard Ashman. Their collaboration on the film helped establish the integrated musical storytelling that became central to Disney animation's modern era.

“Part of Your World” is distinct from Sebastian's “Under the Sea,” which argues that life in the ocean is better than life on land. Ariel's song instead presents the human world from her personal point of view and introduces her central desire.
