Shaun White won three Olympic halfpipe gold medals for the United States.
White took gold in men’s halfpipe at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the 2010 Games in Vancouver and the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang. His victories made him one of the most recognizable snowboarders in Olympic history.
He also competed in skateboarding and became known for combining amplitude with difficult aerial tricks. At Vancouver 2010, White won with a run that included the first competition “Double McTwist 1260,” a demanding two-and-a-half-rotation aerial maneuver.
White did not win the halfpipe at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, where he finished fourth. His Olympic total therefore includes three gold medals, all in the same snowboard discipline, rather than four consecutive titles.
