Which snack brand introduced the first cheese-flavored version of its crackers in 1921?

The story behind the answer

Cheez-It introduced its first cheese-flavored crackers in 1921.

The square crackers were created by the Green & Green Company in Dayton, Ohio. They are made from wheat flour, vegetable oil, and cheese, with a small hole in the center and a lightly browned surface. The crackers became known for their sharp cheese flavor and compact size.

The Sunshine Biscuits company later acquired the brand, and Keebler subsequently manufactured it. Today, Cheez-It products are associated with Kellanova, formerly known as the Kellogg Company’s snack business.

Cheez-It crackers are sometimes confused with Goldfish crackers because both are cheese-flavored baked snacks. Their shapes distinguish them: Cheez-It crackers are generally square, while Goldfish crackers have fish-shaped outlines.
