Which Slovenian ski-flying hill hosted the first jump beyond 100 metres in 1936?

The story behind the answer

Planica hosted the first ski jump beyond 100 metres in 1936.

The milestone took place at the Bloudkova velikanka hill in Planica, Slovenia, then part of Yugoslavia. Austria’s Josef Bradl became the first jumper to exceed 100 metres when he reached 101 metres on 15 March 1936.

Planica became one of the central venues of ski flying, a discipline using specially designed hills that allow much longer jumps than ordinary ski-jumping hills. Its steep terrain and long landing slope made it especially suitable for record attempts.

The 100-metre landmark was not the same as an Olympic record: ski flying has never been an Olympic discipline. Planica later hosted many world-record jumps and remains closely associated with the sport’s distance milestones.
