The phrase is sometimes confused with product-specific advertising because McDonald's promoted many menu items during the same period. However, “Did Somebody Say McDonald's?” was a broader brand slogan, not the name of a sandwich, meal, or character. Its year places it firmly in the late 1990s, before the “I'm Lovin' It” campaign launched in 2003.
