Which slogan did McDonald’s use in 1995, before launching “I’m Lovin’ It”?

The story behind the answer

McDonald’s used “Have You Had Your Break Today?” as a slogan in 1995.

The wording connected McDonald’s with taking a pause during a busy day, echoing the company’s earlier association between its restaurants and brief moments of refreshment. It was part of the chain’s succession of advertising platforms during the 1990s.

Several nearby slogans can cause confusion. “Food, Folks and Fun” belongs to 1990, while “Did Somebody Say McDonald’s?” was used later in the decade. “We Love to See You Smile” is also a separate McDonald’s slogan from the broader 1990s period.

The best-known modern replacement was “I’m Lovin’ It,” introduced internationally in 2003. That later campaign did not erase the older slogans from McDonald’s advertising history; it marked a new global branding phase with a shorter, more contemporary style.
