Which ski resort hosted the alpine skiing events at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics?

The story behind the answer

Whistler Blackcomb hosted the alpine skiing events at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The resort, in British Columbia, provided the downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and combined courses for the Games. The venue was known during the Olympics as Whistler Creekside, the southern section of the larger Whistler Blackcomb resort.

Vancouver hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics, but several snow sports took place outside the city. Cypress Mountain hosted freestyle skiing and snowboarding, while the Whistler Sliding Centre hosted bobsleigh, luge and skeleton.

Whistler and Blackcomb were originally separate mountains and were later operated as one resort. The area is now one of North America’s largest ski destinations, with extensive terrain on both mountains and a gondola linking their base areas.
