Answer
2.3L turbo I4
Which sixth-generation Mustang engine used the Ford EcoBoost name? It was the 2.3L turbocharged inline-four, also called the 2.3L EcoBoost. Ford introduced this engine with the sixth-generation Mustang for the 2015 model year, alongside a 3.7L V6 and a 5.0L Coyote V8.
The 2.3-liter engine used turbocharging, direct injection, intercooling, and variable valve timing. Unlike related four-cylinder EcoBoost applications in front-wheel-drive vehicles, the Mustang installed its engine longitudinally for rear-wheel drive. The arrangement required different mounting and installation details.
At launch, the Mustang’s EcoBoost engine was rated at 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque when using premium fuel. For the 2018 facelift, torque increased to 350 pound-feet, while a 10-speed automatic transmission became available. Ford later offered a High Performance Package that raised output to 330 horsepower for 2020–2023 models.
The 5.0L V8, 5.2L Voodoo V8, and 3.7L V6 were distinct Mustang engines, not EcoBoost-branded choices.
