At which auto show did Ford preview the seventh-generation Mustang?

The story behind the answer

Ford previewed the seventh-generation Mustang at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show.

The reveal took place on September 14, 2022, during a special Ford event called “The Stampede,” staged in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show. The car carried the S650 designation and became the first all-new Mustang generation since the sixth-generation model launched for 2015.

Ford used the Detroit unveiling to emphasize continuity as well as change. The seventh-generation Mustang retained a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and continued offering gasoline engines, including a redesigned 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and a revised 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Ford also introduced the Dark Horse as a new performance-oriented series positioned between the regular GT and the more specialized Shelby models of earlier eras.

The event is sometimes described simply as a “Detroit Auto Show debut,” which is the same answer in ordinary quiz usage. It was not revealed at Geneva, New York, or Chicago. Production began at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan in May 2023.
