The Mustang Owner’s Museum opened in Concord, North Carolina, on April 17, 2019.
The date was deliberately chosen to coincide with the Mustang’s 55th anniversary. Ford unveiled the original Mustang on April 17, 1964, at the New York World’s Fair, so the 2019 opening connected the museum to one of the most important dates in the model’s history.
Concord was a natural location for the museum because it is closely associated with major Mustang gatherings at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Although the speedway is commonly linked with Charlotte, it is physically located in Concord, which explains why Charlotte can be a tempting but incorrect answer.
The museum was designed as a rotating showcase rather than a static collection devoted to one generation. Its displays have included classic, modified, racing, and unusual Mustangs, along with memorabilia and exhibits tracing the car’s development and enthusiast culture.
