Which singer voiced Nala in the 2019 computer-animated film The Lion King?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala in the 2019 computer-animated film The Lion King.

Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Beyoncé provided the voice of adult Nala, the lioness who becomes Simba’s partner and an important force in his return to Pride Rock.

The voice cast also included Donald Glover as adult Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi. Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, voiced the character Kiara in the film’s closing song sequence.

Beyoncé also recorded new music connected with the project. She and Donald Glover performed “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and she curated the companion album The Lion King: The Gift. Nala had also been voiced by Moira Kelly in the original 1994 film, so the two versions should not be confused.
