Taylor Swift co-produced “august” alongside Jack Antonoff. The track’s credits reflect Swift’s expanding role as a hands-on producer, not only as its vocalist and songwriter.
Antonoff developed the instrumental before Swift wrote the lyrics, and the two shaped the final recording together. Swift’s production work on folklore contributed to the album’s cohesive atmosphere: soft percussion, layered guitars, muted electronics, and spacious arrangements recur across many of its songs.
Some listeners attribute every folklore track to Aaron Dessner because he was the album’s other major producer and collaborator. Dessner did co-write and produce numerous songs on folklore, but he is not credited as a producer of “august.” The correct credit is Swift and Antonoff, with Joe Alwyn also credited in the song’s production information.
