Which singer portrayed Nala in Disney’s 2019 film The Lion King?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé portrayed Nala in Disney’s 2019 film The Lion King.

The film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated feature. Directed by Jon Favreau, it retells the story of Simba, a young lion who must reclaim his place as king after his father’s death.

Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala, Simba’s childhood friend and eventual queen. Donald Glover voiced Simba, while James Earl Jones returned as Mufasa from the 1994 film. The cast also included Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen, and Alfre Woodard.

Beyoncé also contributed the original song “Spirit” to the soundtrack. Her role is sometimes mixed up with her work on Black Is King, a 2020 visual album inspired by the music of The Lion King: The Gift.
