Which singer performs “Livin’ la Vida Loca” with Antonio Banderas in Shrek 2?

Eddie Murphy performs “Livin’ la Vida Loca” with Antonio Banderas in Shrek 2.

The song appears during the closing credits, where Murphy and Banderas perform a humorous version of Ricky Martin’s hit. In the film, Murphy voices Donkey and Banderas voices Puss in Boots, so the performance extends the comic partnership between two of the franchise’s most distinctive characters.

“Livin’ la Vida Loca” was originally recorded by Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin and became an international pop hit in 1999. The Shrek 2 version is therefore a cover rather than a song first created for the film. Its placement in the credits adds a celebratory ending after the main story concludes.

A frequent mix-up is naming Ricky Martin as the performers in the movie version. Martin performed the original recording, while Murphy and Banderas perform the Shrek 2 rendition.
