Jay-Z collaborated with Beyoncé on “Crazy in Love,” her 2003 debut solo single.
The song was released as the lead single from Dangerously in Love. It uses a prominent horn sample from the Chi-Lites song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” which gives the track its instantly recognizable opening. Beyoncé sings the main sections, while Jay-Z delivers a rap verse near the beginning.
“Crazy in Love” became Beyoncé's first solo number-one single in the United States and also topped charts in several other countries. Its energetic production, dance-focused video, and strong vocal hook helped define the sound of her early solo career.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé later married in 2008 and continued collaborating on recordings and performances. Their joint album Everything Is Love was released in 2018 under the name The Carters. The collaboration is therefore both a major pop-music pairing and an early milestone in Beyoncé's solo discography.
