Which Shrek film was released in 2007 and centers on Shrek’s search for an heir?

The Shrek film released in 2007 and centered on Shrek’s search for an heir is Shrek the Third.

In Shrek the Third, King Harold dies, leaving Shrek as a possible successor to the throne of Far Far Away. Shrek does not want to become king, so he and Donkey travel to find Arthur Pendragon, Fiona’s teenage cousin and another candidate for the throne.

The film expands the series’ school and fairy-tale settings while continuing the story of Fiona’s pregnancy. Its voice cast includes Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, and Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots. Justin Timberlake voices Arthur.

The title identifies the movie as the third main Shrek installment, released after Shrek 2 and before Shrek Forever After. It is distinct from the later spin-off Puss in Boots, which focuses on a different character.
