Which Shrek film features the alternate-reality kingdom known as Rumpelstiltskin’s Far Far Away?

The story behind the answer

Shrek Forever After features the alternate-reality kingdom known as Rumpelstiltskin’s Far Far Away.

In Shrek Forever After, Shrek signs a magical contract with Rumpelstiltskin and is transported into a changed version of his world. In that reality, Rumpelstiltskin has taken control of Far Far Away, Shrek and Fiona never developed their original relationship, and the kingdom is under a much harsher rule.

The alternate setting allows the film to revisit familiar characters while showing how different events could have produced different lives. Shrek must repair the altered timeline before the contract permanently takes effect. The story is the fourth main Shrek film and was marketed as the final chapter of the original series.

Rumpelstiltskin’s Far Far Away should not be confused with the normal kingdom shown in the earlier films. It is a transformed reality created by the contract, not a separate kingdom with an independent established history.
