Which show was a spin-off of "Happy Days"?

The story behind the answer

The show that was spun off from “Happy Days” was “Laverne & Shirley.”

The characters Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney first appeared on “Happy Days” as friends and romantic acquaintances connected to Fonzie. Their chemistry proved popular enough that ABC gave them their own sitcom, which premiered in January 1976.

Set initially in late-1950s Milwaukee, “Laverne & Shirley” followed the roommates as they worked as bottle-cappers at the fictional Shotz Brewery. Penny Marshall played Laverne, while Cindy Williams played Shirley. Their friends Lenny and Squiggy became central comic characters, and Fonzie and the Cunningham family occasionally crossed over from “Happy Days.”

The series ran for eight seasons and became one of American television’s biggest hits by its third and fourth seasons. It later moved the characters from Milwaukee to Burbank, California, but its origin as a “Happy Days” spin-off remained part of its identity.
