Broadcom crossed a $1 trillion market capitalization in December 2024.
Broadcom passed the threshold after its share price surged following strong financial guidance and demand connected to artificial-intelligence infrastructure. The company supplies networking chips and custom accelerators, while its software operations include products acquired through the purchase of VMware.
The milestone followed Broadcom’s ten-for-one stock split, which began trading in July 2024. Like other stock splits, that action lowered the price of each individual share without directly changing the company’s overall market value.
Broadcom is often confused with Broadcom Corporation, the earlier semiconductor company acquired by Avago Technologies in 2016. Avago adopted the Broadcom name after the deal, creating the present Broadcom Inc. and expanding its portfolio beyond a single chip category.
